Mid level Unix Administrator (w/m/d)

Data-Warehouse GmbH is an expanding software manufacturer and service provider. Over the last 20 years the company has developed into a system house with its own product portfolios in the area of holistic, high quality information management, information logistics and process optimisation, security and cyber strategy and compliance/data protection consulting.

The job is as a Unix/Linux Administrator (primarily Red Hat) role.  

The job is located in the north of Munich (on site as no remote working is possible).

German, British, Spanish or Italian nationality is required.

Tasks:

  • Administer Unix/Linux-based operating systems, including troubleshooting, installation and setup. 
  • Maintain compliance with security policies, including patch management and vulnerability remediation. 
  • Perform backups and recovery using tools such as Netbackup.
  • Basic hardware management including racking, card/disk replacements, attaching to network(s), etc.   
  • Installing third party software following provided instructions.
  • Document architecture, procedures, and operational guidelines for system administration. 

 

Requirements/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Unix/Linux system administration (RHEL8, RHEL9, or similar). 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Unix/Linux systems. 
  • Certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), or similar is an advantage.
  • Working with ticket system for incidents, problems, change management and configuration management.
  • Strong background in IT (working in IT).
  • IT related Bachelor or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Any knowledge of ITIL would be useful.
  • Ability to Shell Script would be nice to have.
  • Knowledge of Container Technology especially Rancher would be nice to have.
  • VMWare/KVM knowledge would be nice to have.
  • Windows Server knowledge would be nice to have.
  • The candidate should also be able to speak and write in English.
  • Security check (Ü2) available or willing to go through the process to acquire it.
  • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills (including acquiring relevant certifications).

Willingness to work in a rotation system (to cover the service hours) and to work outside working hours (usually one Saturday per month)
