Service Desk & Support Technician

We are looking for an IT Help Desk Service Operator or Support Technician who speaks English and German (B2 level) (plus, optionally, Italian and Spanish) for a permanent position, to start immediately or soon in Munich, to work in a highly dynamic international environment. Highly motivated entry-level candidates are also welcome! Due to legal requirements, NATO security clearance is required or must be obtained; a passport from a Eurofighter production country (UK, Germany, Spain, or Italy) is required by the client.

Requirements/Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • Experience with System Administration (Level 1)
  • Experience with Windows Server Administration and Linux
  • Experience with the Windows operating system and Office applications
  • Experience with the Linux operating system
  • Experience with NB Imaging and Deployment 
  • Experience with Directory Services
  • Experience with Software Deployment Tools
  • Experience with Virtualization Technologies
  • Experience with physical patching, SDN, VPN, and VLAN troubleshooting
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management Solutions
  • Knowledge of Video Conferencing Solutions
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP, and UDP

You have the necessary understanding and sensitivity to the SLAs

Existing ITIL V5 Foundation certification is a plus (if not, a willingness to pursue certification)

Good English skills (written and spoken) are required as well as basic knowledge of German (B2)

Willingness to strictly follow client processes and internal procedures (mandatory).

You are able to work under pressure and keep on top of things even during stressful peak times

Flexibility in working hours/shifts

High team spirit, reliability, punctuality

You can set priorities and have a hands-on mentality

Willingness to work on Saturday and some bank holidays

 

Security check (Ü2) available or willing to have it done

Your role

In this role, you will support the operation, administration, and continuous improvement of Unix/Linux-based systems, primarily in Red Hat environments.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Administer Unix/Linux-based operating systems, including troubleshooting, installation, and setup.
  • Maintain compliance with security policies, including patch management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Perform backups and recovery using tools such as Netbackup.
  • Basic hardware management including racking, card/disk replacements, attaching to network(s), etc.
  • Installing third-party software following the instructions provided.
  • Document architecture, procedures, and operational guidelines for system administration.

 

  • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills (including acquiring relevant certifications).
  • Willingness to work on a rotating schedule (to cover the service hours) and to work outside of regular working hours (usually one Saturday per month).

 

Your profile

  • Strong expertise in Unix/Linux system administration (RHEL8, RHEL9, or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Unix/Linux systems.
  • Working with ticket system for incidents, problems, change management and configuration management.
  • Certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or similar are an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of English—both spoken and written.

 

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • Ability to Write Shell Scripts
  • Knowledge of container technology, especially Rancher
  • VMware/KVM knowledge
  • Windows Server Knowledge

Important Information
